Wildlife photography - Lions in the Grass                  Wildlife photography - Elephant Family

For 13 days you will travel to some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Africa to fulfill your photographic dreams.    First we head off to Zambia to visit Victoria falls, or as the locals call it "the smoke that thunders".  This is one of the largest waterfalls in the world, truly an amazing sight.  Then its on to Chobe to photograph its abundant elephants, lions, and hippos.   Next we will head to Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta.  After several days investigating this watery paradise, we move to a remote island to search for the elusive sitatunga antelope and a variety of bird life.  Besides game drives, we will take boat rides through the narrow papyrus-flanked channels as we glide past crocodiles,  hippos, and numerous bird species.  This is Africa at its wildest.  After a visit to the northern extent of the Kalahari Desert we will return to the Okavango before departing for home.

Day 3-6  01 - 04 October 2005: Drive to Kasane and spend the next four days in the Chobe National Park. The Chobe National Park is one of Africa's finest game sanctuaries. Situated in the far north of Botswana, the park encompasses a diversity of habitats from the severe, desert-like landscape of the Savute to the lush grasslands of the Chobe river front. Home to breathtaking variety of animals and birds, it boasts one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the southern African subcontinent.

You will spend the next two nights camping in an exclusive wilderness campsite in the Savute area of the park, exploring the area on game drives.
Savute is a seemingly endless desolate landscape, famous for the dry marsh, sand ridge and volcanic hills which are unique to this area. This famous area is home to a variety of dry-land animals, including zebra, wildebeest, kudu, giraffe, wild dog, leopard and lion.

Leaving this parched landscape, you will travel further north to the contrasting Chobe region of the park. The Chobe River forms the northern boundary between Botswana and Namibia. The region boasts the largest concentration of elephants in Africa as well as an abundance of birds, buffalo, lion and hippo. The following two nights will be spent camping in an exclusive wilderness campsite, exploring the river banks and surrounding flood plains on game drives. Day 7-11 05 - 09 October 2005: On day 7, we make our way towards the Khwai region of the Moremi reserve, enjoying a game drive and picnic lunch en route. The Khwai River forms the eastern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve. Vast herds of buffalo and elephant are common in the dry season with regular sightings of leopard, lion and cheetah.

The following two nights will be spent camping at an exclusive Khwai community campsite on the border of Moremi Game Reserve, exploring the area on game drives both during the day and at night. Exploring after dark with spotlights offers you an opportunity to experience some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during the day. We will also have the opportunity to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot and enjoy an up close and personal encounter with Botswana's flora and fauna. It is important to note that night drives and guided walks are not permitted within the national parks and reserves. These activities are conducted outside the boundaries of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Khwai community area.

On day 9 we drive to the West, stop for a picnic lunch and you can enjoy a late afternoon game drive en-route to camp, arriving in time to toast the sun setting on the horizon.

You will spend your first two nights camping in an exclusive wilderness campsite in the Xakanaxa region of the reserve, exploring this oasis on game drives.

The Okavango is a unique ecosystem, an inland delta situated in the middle of the largest stretch of continuous sand in the world - the Kalahari basin.  This wetland lies like an oasis in an otherwise inhospitable landscape. Were land and delta meet, a mosaic of pans, grasslands, forests and lagoons provide an extremely rich and diverse habitat where a multitude of animals and birds flourish. Moremi Game Reserve is situated in the eastern corner of the Okavango Delta, and the Xakanaxa area boasts magnificent scenery as well as a multitude of bird and animal life.

On day 3, you will embark on an island adventure deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta, exploring the endless network of crystal clear waterways and secret lagoons by motor boat, and the surrounding palm fringed islands on foot. This swampland is home to the elusive Sitatunga antelope as well as a variety of spectacular bird life including the Pel's Fishing Owl and a host of migrant birds. You will spend the night camping on a remote island with only the bear essentials - a true wilderness experience.
